The village of Motoven is located in the center of the Istrian region, and is distinguished by its high position among the hills surrounded by olive fields and forests of rare truffles. The village is small in size, with only about 500 residents. The village offers a wonderful view of the valleys of the Merna River, and it is visited by tourists annually for rest and recreation. A Romanesque Gothic bell tower with a pointed capital from the 13th century dominates the historic heart of the city and next to it is the 17th-century St Stephen's Parish Church. In the central square, the Roman Municipal Palace is the largest secular building in Istria of the period, surrounded by many other historical buildings. In the village you will find a few galleries and souvenir shops offering local products, a few cafes and restaurants, and only one hotel.
