The ancient city of Troy is famous for being the site of the Trojan War described by Homer in his epic poem "The Iliad". It was included in the World Heritage List in 1998. It dates back to 3000 BC. It is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, located within the borders of Canakkale Province.
