Center of Contemporary Art at Petrovic Palace
The Center for Modern Arts was created in 1995 through the merger of two institutions of culture: the National Cultural Center and the “Josip Broz Tito” gallery. It is a building built in the late nineteenth century. The central building of the complex is the residence of Duke Mirko Petrović Njegošcaron, better known as the Petrović Palace. The exhibition's permanent display includes about 1,000 items from 60 countries of the world, from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America, as well as a collection of Yugoslav and Monenegro (Montenegro) artists. The oldest items date from the 7th century BC and the most recent from the last decades of the 20th century. Apart from works of fine art, there are also works of applied arts and ethnography, in addition to a diverse collection on display.
