Al-Khalaf and Al-Khalif are the two sites of two neighboring villages, separated by 2 km, and 5 km north of Qalwah in the Al-Baha region. Both of them date back to the middle Islamic ages, and they are located on the top of the hill. Each of them has a mosque dating back to the tenth century AH. There are still remains of the Al-Khalaf Mosque. As for the Al-Khalif Mosque, it has disappeared. The village houses were built in the old traditional style of the Tihama region. Due to its location overlooking Wadi Mahalla, the village is distinguished by the presence of cemeteries and mosques on which there are Islamic inscriptions and writings in both locations, most of which are written in Kufic script.
