Eliscamps (Elysian Fields), this place is the comprehensive Roman burial, which is an exceptional testimony to the ancient history of Arles, it is found in the southeast of ancient Arles. A Gallo-Roman necropolis is found on the southeastern edge of the old town. According to Saint Trophim's legend, the site was designated as a Christian cemetery. And in the Middle Ages, the Alscamps was a place of so much value, and so much respect, that the dead were brought to this place for burial from great distances. The cemetery was mentioned in several artworks due to its great importance, such as the comedic artwork of the famous Italian poet “Dante”, which he wrote in the fourteenth century.
