Arab Baths
At the foot of the Girona Cathedral, a small dome overlooks a stone building, it is the lantern of the city's Arab baths, which defines the image of this little gem, and it is a unique Roman building, inspired by Roman public baths, and its most prominent elements include the entrance that was used as a changing room, and a relaxation area Covered with barrel vaulting, the dome covers the central pool supported by slender columns with decorated capitals. It is believed that the idea of public baths began to appear in Girona in 1194, and the building of this bath went through many stages, as it was partially destroyed in 1285, and was restored in 1294, and then it was bought by a community of nuns and annexed to the monastery. And after increasing the interest of researchers in the matter of the building, it was seized by the Girona Provincial Council in 1929, and the Provincial Council supervised its restoration, and it was opened to the public in 1932 as the bathroom we see now.
