Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe is located in the city of Montpellier at the eastern end of the Jardin Perrot. It was designed by François d'Orbay on the model of Porte Saint-Denis in Paris. Its construction was completed in 1693 and was designed as a royal passage to the Promenade du Peru.The arch is distinguished by the relief carvings on its sides and the inscriptions that symbolize several events, most notably the inscription that symbolizes the Netherlands bowing to the king.
