Description of the place
The town of Ban Nam Kiem is located about 30 kilometers north of Khao Lak along the coast of the Andaman Sea in Phang Nga. It suffered the worst losses from a tsunami than any other town or city in Thailand. The Pan Nam Kiem Tsunami Memorial Center named after And the faces of the 3,500 Thais and foreigners who lost their lives in the area near the stretch of Nam Kiem beach in 2006 are in their memory.
