Hiding under the Rue Remy Cimpé in Lourdes, the Basilica of St. Pius X is a huge, controversial concrete basilica also known as the "Underground Basilica". It was completed in 1957 and consecrated a year later by a Roman cardinal. With ample space and suitable to house the huge crowds that flood the city on feast dates and other important Catholic holy days.
