Bath Abbey is a Church of England parish church and former Benedictine monastery in Bath, founded in the 7th century, restored in the 10th century and rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries, with major restoration work carried out in the 1860s. The abbey is one of the largest examples of Perpendicular Gothic architecture in the Western country, and the abbey church served in the Middle Ages as a cathedral for the bishop. The monastery was built of yellow bath stone, and it consists of a large central tower, and huge windows of 52 windows, and it includes a number of important monuments and statues that date back to different periods.
