Black Desert

The Black Desert in the Egyptian city of Farafra is a landmark that has gained international fame due to its unique nature, as the hills scattered in it have taken the form of volcanoes and are widely spaced and distributed over an area of more than 30 kilometers. The hills of this desert differ from the hills of other deserts in that the height of some of them may reach 100 meters, and some of them are dark and consist of iron quartzite, while others are redder because the surface rocks consist of iron sandstone. In 2010, the desert was turned into a reserve after dinosaur fossils were discovered there.
