Description of the place
Bom Jesus is the first funicular to be built in the Iberian Peninsula and the oldest train in the world moved by water balance. It was completed in 1882 after two years of work and is used by those who are unwilling or unable to climb the 577-step staircase leading to To the famous Bom Jesús summit, the sloping mountain path is 274 meters long and drops 116 meters.
