Boulders Penguin Colony
One of the most visited beaches in Cape Town, the beautiful Boulders Beach is the only place in the world where people get up close to African penguins. In 1982, a couple of these unique birds settled on the soft white sand between the large granite rocks that protect the beach from winds and large stormy waves, and currently their number is estimated between 2000 and 3000 penguins. This beach is not only a great place to spot penguins, but also a family-friendly spot where kids can climb up the rocks or swim in the clear waters of the bay.
