It is known that windmills began to be used in the first century AD, and that their working systems were developed in Mesopotamia. Although the work of these mills is known to be limited to the process of grinding grain, they were also used to pump water. The Turks also began building windmills in 600-650, which became popular in Anatolia. As for the Bozcaada Mill, it stopped working 50 years ago, and today it is a distinguished landmark for tourists.
