Brunnenburg Castle
Brunnenburg Castle
Brunenburg Castle was built in 1250 AD on an ice platform near the city of Merano, and Brunenburg means Fountain Castle, as the castle took its name from a nearby fountain that was built on a natural spring. The castle was distinguished by its unique, huge design, with fortified defensive walls. Today the castle houses the Agricultural Museum of South Tyrol and also serves as a center for cultural exchange.
