Located in the heart of the medieval district of Nantes, the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany is a large castle that served as the center of the historic county of Brittany until its separation in 1956. It was also the residence of the Dukes of Brittany between the 13th and 16th centuries, and later became the residence of the Breton Order It has been listed as a historical monument by the French Ministry of Culture since 1840, and today it is home to the Nantes Historical Museum.
