Description of the place
The catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, also known as the Treasure Hill, are a huge royal necropolis dating back to the second century AD, and contain a unique mixture of Roman, Hellenistic and Pharaonic art elements that are clearly reflected in the paintings on the wall, the style of statues, funerary artifacts and tombs. This site was One of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages.
