Cesme Museum
Cesme Museum
This museum is located inside Cesme Castle, and the monument of Cesirli Gazi Hassan Pasha is located directly in front of the museum, about 60 meters from the coast of the Aegean Sea. In 1965, the museum was established as a weapons museum, but the high humidity caused some rust in the metal parts of the weapons, and the weapons were transferred to other museums. Beginning in 1984, the museum was redesigned as a general purpose museum. In one of the halls are displayed items from the Roman and Byzantine eras, which include groups of pottery statues, oil lamps and pottery. A hall has also been dedicated to displaying the pieces found during the excavations, such as pottery statues, silver and copper coins, and another hall displays the memory of the Battle of Cesme, which is a battle from the eighteenth century, fought in the Gulf of Cesme, as this hall includes maps, posters, flags, and medals , and others.
