Chiang Mai National Museum
The National Museum in Chiang Mai was opened in 1973 by the King of Thailand, and contains a group of exhibitions on the history of the city of Chiang Mai, as well as the history of the Lanna Kingdom. The museum is also an important educational center that attempts to preserve the art and culture of northern Thailand. Constructed with traditional architecture, the Chiang Mai National Museum displays a beautiful Lanna style multi-pitched roof. Inside there are a range of exhibits including the history and art of the Lanna Kingdom, and how the city of Chiang Mai has changed since the rule of Siam (now called Thailand). Ancient jewelry and pottery are on display, and explanations are written on each display in both English and Thai.
