Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception
Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception
The church was first built in the colonial Portuguese Baroque style in 1541 on a hill overlooking the town of Panjim in the city of Tsoday. It was eventually replaced by a larger church in the 17th century as part of Portugal's religious expansion. In this new church is the old bell, which was removed from the ruins of the first church. This bell is the second largest of its kind in Goa. The church is distinguished by its magnificent white marble building, its beautiful statues scattered inside and outside it, as well as its picturesque gardens that surround it. Inside the church, there is a giant golden altar and many beautiful Indian decorations.
