Church of Saint Mary Magdalene
The Church of St. Mary Magdalene, dating from the mid-13th century, originally served as the parish church for the city's Hungarian citizens; During the first half of the Turkish occupation, the only Christian church remained in the castle, and then during the second half it was converted into a mosque. When the Turks were defeated in 1686, it was returned to the Franciscan Order, which demolished most of the church except for the tower, and used the stones to build a new church in the Baroque style.
