Clock Tower
The Clock Tower in Konak Square is one of the most prominent landmarks in the city of Izmir today. It was built by architect Raymond Charles Pere in 1901 to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the coronation of the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid Ibrahim. The clock tower is as tall as 25 meters and consists of four levels in an octagonal plan, and the North African-style column heads show the architectural character of the tower, in addition to the presence of fountains on the four sides of the tower.
