Dana Island
Despite being a small island located two kilometers off the southern coast of Turkey, Dana Island offers a rich history that likely sheds light on the dark ages. This island was considered one of the largest shipyards in ancient times. Historical sources indicate that the name of the island may stem from Yadnana, Yadana, or Adana, which was mentioned in an Assyrian tablet from the eighth century BC, as an island in the vicinity of Cyprus. There is archaeological evidence showing that Dana Island played an important role in maritime navigation activities in the Levant, starting from the Neolithic period. In addition to being used as the largest shipyard, it is also a military naval base in the eastern Mediterranean. A 3D model of the island was made. Using photogrammetry methods and computer graphics, simulations were carried out to verify hypotheses related to Dana Island's involvement in major naval battles in ancient times.
