Deir el-Bahari

Deir el-Bahri is a complex of mortuary temples and tombs, this magnificent landmark is located on the west bank of the Nile. The first monument and memorial temple in the region was for Imhotep II, a temple with a very long history, as it was built during the twenty-first century BC. The mortuary itself consists of a forecourt, an entry gate, walled on three sides, and a magnificent porch. These temples face east, because they are associated with sun worship.
