The Dublin Book Museum was opened in November 1991 and since that time it is one of the most important museums in the city of Dublin. It is located specifically in an old house dating back to the eighteenth century. The museum includes a library, gallery and administration area. The museum was established to promote interest in Irish literature as a whole and in the life and work of Irish writers. Individuals in particular, through its collection, performances and activities, and includes many works of art by writers and artists such as James Joyce, George Bernard Shaw, William Butler Yeats, Patrick Pierce and others.
