Description of the place
El-Kab is located in the city of Luxor on the eastern bank of the Nile River, 23 km north of Edfu. It is one of the oldest settlements in Upper Egypt. It was previously called the city of "Elite" and before it "Illydiapolis" in ancient times. Today it consists of an impressive group of antiquities. spanning many periods of Egyptian history, from the pre-dynastic era to the Ptolemies.
