Eliahu Hanavi Synagogue
The Eliyahu Hanavi Synagogue is one of the two remaining synagogues in Alexandria, of which there used to be twelve. Eliahu Hanavi is one of the witnesses to the disappearance of the Jewish community. The synagogue is now located in the heart of Alexandria, and can accommodate 700 worshipers. It was the last operating synagogue in Egypt until it was closed in 2012 due to security concerns. The synagogue was distinguished by its huge architectural design, which includes spacious courtyards, ornate walls and muqarnas. Today, visitors visit it as a historical museum to see the beauty of architecture.
