Description of the place
Located in the village of Ildırı, this site is one of the ruins of one of the twelve leading Ionian cities of antiquity, and one of the important settlements of the ancient Aegean world, the city of Erythrai. It had a great trading port for several centuries, in the Roman period, as it has been in use since 88 BC, which shows Erythrai as an important center reflecting the eastern connections in the Ionian region, and ancient excavations reveal that this port has played an active role in the changes Socio-political in Ionia in the fourth century.
