Fort Estesac was built during the reign of Richelieu between 1633 and 1637 in order to confront the Spanish threat that prevailed on the coasts of the Provence region, and it originally consisted of a large round tower with two vaulted levels topped by a balcony, but in 1793 the English blew up part of the tower, Under the Empire, the lost part was rebuilt on a square plan. The fort has been included in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments and now houses an exhibition open to the public during the summer season.
