Fort Nelson Musuem

The Fort Nelson Museum is located within the walls of a restored Victorian fort of the same name that was built in the 1860s to protect against a possible invasion by the French. Although this fort was not used for its original purpose, it played an important role in both world wars. The museum contains the oldest and largest collections of weapons and armor. In the world with over 700 items that include the British National Arms and Armor Collection, the National Artillery Collection and the National Firearms Collection, it also illustrates the history of the development of artillery.
