Gabal al-Mawta
The mountain of the dead, which has a conical shape, contains thousands of tombs carved into the rock, as well as many amazing pharaonic inscriptions, and these inscriptions helped date the oldest tombs in it. According to the website of the Ministry of Antiquities in Egypt, burials continued in these cemeteries until the late Roman era. It is noteworthy that the history of the discovery of the Mountain of the Dead dates back to 1944, specifically during World War II, when the people of Siwa went to the mountain out of hiding, discovering the presence of the pharaonic tombs that lie inside it. With regard to the most important tombs that the mountain contains, it is the tomb of "Ba Thoth", the tomb of "Misu Isis", the "crocodile" tomb, in addition to the tomb of "Si Amun", which is the most beautiful in the Western Desert.
