The Great Mosque, which is one of the largest mosques in the city of Afyon, was built in the Anatolian Seljuk period between 1272 and 1277. It is covered with a copper roof raised on forty wooden columns of eight rows. These columns are decorated with impressive colorful decorations. The mosque includes three gates facing east, west and north, and there is an inscription on the two-winged platform indicating the date of the first construction, and this mosque, which has been restored and preserved in its old form to this day, is one of the unique examples of wooden architecture in the Seljuk era.
