Greco-Roman Museum
The Greco-Roman Museum is an important and distinctive imprint of the history of Egypt. The museum was built for the first time in 1892 AD as a small building located on Al-Hurriya Road, and in 1895 AD it was moved to the current location near Gamal Abdel Nasser Road. It started with eleven showrooms, and was gradually expanded in the subsequent renovation phases. The museum contains a large and diverse collection of coins from different countries, arranged chronologically, dating back to between 630 BC to the Ottoman era in the nineteenth century, in addition to a number of distinctive stone carvings and statues of kings and sultans who lived and inhabited this land.
