Ibrahim Pasha Bastion
The Ibrahim Pasha forts are very solid and one of the few remaining structures from the Ottoman period in the region. Ibrahim Pasha built them in the 1830s to resist attacks from the east, in a strategic location overlooking the city and its environs. These forts consisted of three main bastions, the red bastion which had three floors, the earth bastions and the pear bastion, named for the remains of underground structures not easily seen in the forest lands to the northeast of the original forts.
