Iglesia de San Francisco

San Francisco Church, an important church historically and artistically, built by the Italian Catholic monk Francis of Assisi, and dates back to the late sixteenth century, when it was built in 1593, and was designed by Antonio Ulan. The church was the site of the massive funeral of Venezuelan liberation hero Simon Bolivar in 1842, and it remains a beautiful example of colonial architecture. It is visited by locals and tourists from all over the world.
