King David I (David II) established the Inchcolm Monastery in the year 1140, fulfilling the dream of his brother Alexander the Great to establish a monastery on this island, where he took refuge during a severe storm that he encountered. This monastery includes a group of monastic buildings that have been preserved to this day. And it has a great location that allows you to see it from the boat before you reach the island.
