Description of the place
The Izmir Ataturk Monument mediates the Republic Square in the city of Izmir, and it is a monument that was established in 1932 AD, by the Italian sculptor Pietro Canonica, on a base of dark red Afyonkarahisar marble. The monument consists of a bronze equestrian statue that depicts the moment when Ataturk gave orders to the army to start fighting, and there are bronze inscriptions on the three sides of the base referring to the War of Independence and Victory.
