Dome of Hasna is one of the unique reserves in Cairo, about 8 kilometers from the magnificent pyramids of Giza, and is divided into two parts by the Cairo-Alexandria desert road, and its name is derived from its hills that take the shape of domes and from its location in Wadi Hasna. This reserve is unique, and despite its small area, it contains exceptional geological formations, rocks and sea shells, as well as a variety of fossils of some plants, coral reefs and animals dating back about one hundred million years. The Dome of Hasna was established as a protected area during the year 1989, but it was discovered in the middle of the nineteenth century by the French engineer Gustave Le Febrve by order of Muhammad Ali Pasha, the ruler of Egypt at the time. It is mainly visited by those who are interested in exploring the geological field and studying paleontology.
