Renaissance castle and museum located in the village of Wewelsburg in Westphalia. The castle has a triangular plan and three round towers connected by massive walls. It is a wonderful castle that takes you to the world of imagination and think about the events that this castle went through. Entrance to the castle is free and there is an audio guide explaining the history of the castle. Finally, after your tour for several hours in this castle, you can go to the cafe near the castle and have a cup of coffee with the wonderful Gooseberry pie. Today the castle hosts the Historical Museum of the Prince-Bishop of Paderborn and the Wevelsburg Memorial Museum 1933-1945. Wewelsburg Castle has also been a center for archaeological excavations in the area. Areas of activity include the study of prehistory and ancient history, the study of medieval history and folk life, the construction of the "Schützstaffel Library" and the promotion of the National Socialist worldview in the village of Wefelsburg.
