Luxembourg Gardens
The Luxembourg Gardens or Luxembourg Gardens lie on the border between Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter and are inspired by the Boboli Gardens in Florence. It was created on the initiative of Queen Marie de Medici in 1612 and covers 25 hectares of land. The gardens are divided into French gardens and English gardens, and between the two there is a woodland and a large pond, as well as a range of striking orchids and a rose garden. The park includes 106 statues scattered throughout the park and the huge Medici Fountain. There are many activities and facilities for children such as puppets and slides, and adults - whether Parisians or tourists - can play chess and tennis. Do not hesitate to visit these gardens which are now one of the most popular destinations in Paris.
