Mananchira
Mananchera is a man-made fresh water pond located in the city center of Kozhikode in the state of Kerala. The pond has an area of 3.49 acres, which is equivalent to 14,000 square metres. It is rectangular in shape and is fed by a natural spring. The pond was founded in the fourteenth century by the feudal ruler of the city, and it was built to collect drinking water as well as to be a shrine where the city's residents could swim and spend a good time. In the late nineteenth century, he issued a decree banning their use for any purpose other than drinking.
