This museum contains a large collection of artworks by the Russian-born French painter and designer. Marc Chagall. In honor of his creative works, and to preserve them, this museum was established in his honor. Since the museum's inception its collections have naturally moved and evolved with the times, consisting of the donations of Chagall (one of the most successful artists of the twentieth century) in 1972, including the Bible Letter in 1966 as well as all of his preparatory works and a wide range of other works, such as book paintings The Bible from 1931, the 105 biblical inscriptions with their copperplates, and a large collection of lithographs including two series of biblical lithographs.
