Mausoleum at Halicarnassus
The mausoleum of Mausolus was built for Mausolus, ruler of Halicarnassus between 353 and 350 BC in Halicarnassus (now Bodrum) in the style of ancient Greek architecture, as it was constructed of shiny marble and decorated with complex statues of animals and people, according to the designs of the Greek architects Satyros and Pythis. The shrine was so beautiful that the ancient historian Antipatros classified it as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
