Memorial to the Abolition of Slavery
Comprised of a magnificent 400-meter walkway under the quayside, the Abolition of Slavery Memorial honors all those who fought and still struggle against slavery in all its forms around the world, featuring 2,000 plaques marking ships that left Nantes on slave trade voyages and African trading posts and Main American, and under the wharf, a 90-meter-long underground passage that conjures up captives in the holds of ships, prompting visitors to reflect on the fight to abolish slavery and the modern form it takes today.
