Monument to Alfonso XII

The Alfonso XII Monument is located in the Lake District of Retiro Park, and is one of the most visited places in the park. This sculptural and architectural group honors King Alfonso XII. The monument was inaugurated by his son, Alfonso XIII. ) in the year 1922 AD. The monument consists of a bicycle half with double Ionic columns, and the coats of arms of the different Spanish provinces of that period were carved, along with scenes reminiscent of the typical professions from the region, and in the center a tower rises with the equestrian statue of the king. The monument is one of the distinctive tourist attractions of the city of Madrid, which tourists from all over the world come specially to see.
