Mount Agung

Mount Agung is an active conical-shaped volcano that stands majestically at an altitude of 3142 meters above sea level on the eastern coast of Bali, and is the highest point in it. It is famous for volcanic eruptions throughout history and affects the climate in the surrounding area, as its western slopes catch rain clouds, It makes its western side fertile while its eastern slopes remain dry and arid. The Balinese believe that this mountain is the abode of the gods, and it is also home to Besakih, the most important temple on the island.
