National Museum of Romanian History
The beautiful and monumental neoclassical building that houses the National Museum of Romanian History was built from 1894 to 1900 according to designs by local architect Alexandru Săvulescu, and originally served as the seat of the Romanian Postal Service until 1970 when the History Museum moved there. Today the museum is home to some of Romania's greatest possessions, and what makes the place most worth a visit is the Roman treasury in the basement which includes jewels from the time of the Ostrogoths, as well as the current Romanian Crown Jewels (King's Crown) and an impressive set of emeralds made for Queen Marie. Roman Ferdinand and granddaughter of Queen Victoria).
