Nelson Mandela Square is a shopping center and square in Sandton, in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. The square was previously known as Sandton Square and was named after former South African President and anti-apartheid activist Nelson Mandela. In March 2004, a six-meter-high statue of Mandela was unveiled. In the ceremony of renaming the square, which is linked to the large Sandton City shopping center, and together they form one of the largest trade complexes on the continent with more than 400 different stores offering various goods in all fields.
