Description of the place
Located between the village of Ripley and Burford on an island surrounded by the River Wye in Surrey, the ruins of Newark Abbey are a ruined Augustinian building founded by Ruald de Calva and his wife Beatrice de Saudes in the 12th century and listed as a Grade Ancient Monument First, it is located on private land but can be seen while walking in the neighboring fields.
