Nymphaeum
large and huge water fountain in the city of Gerasa, it was established to meet the increasing demand for water in the city of Gerasa, especially after the construction of the Roman baths. The Nymphs Path was built between 190-191 AD to be a major water source in the city. The fountain is located along the main street and consists of two side aisles. The two levels of the façade are richly decorated with carvings, panels and Corinthian columns. The lower level is decorated with marble panels and the upper level is decorated with painted stucco. Water gushed out from the mouths of several lion heads carved into a large, deep basin that occupies the entire width of the monument. The water flowed continuously, and any overflow was collected from the street sewage system.
